ALL ABOUT: SHUTTER SPEED

Take sharp photos every time!

Today we’re talking about one of the most important settings on your camera. Shutter Speed! And no it’s not a window shade based 80s action movie starring Keanu Reeves.

Getting your head around this setting is essential if you want to break out of that auto setting and take full creative control of your photography.

Light comes in through your lens and is captured by the image sensor. Shutter speed is how long the shutter stays open for. The longer it stays open, the more light comes in and the brighter the image is.

But for every action, there’s always a trade-off. The trade-off for shutter speed is motion blur. The longer the shutter stays open, the more movement is captured. This could be cool if you want to achieve a creative look, but generally, you want a faster shutter speed to freeze motion make your photos as sharp as Zendaya’s fashion sense.

So get out there and start taking pictures!
